Through science, humans can come closer to nature; but through science, humans can also harm it. It is on these dualities that the Daegu National Science Museum is based, and it is the goal of the museum to provide a place for visitors to meditate on the relationship between nature, science and humans. These three forces -nature, science, and humans- are at the heart of the design of the museum and suggest a new vision for a science museum of the 21st century. The location-within the Daegu Techno-Polis complexhelped inform the high-tech nature of the architectural design even as the design borrows from nature. This science museum will be the place where the Nature and scientific technology coexist. The building shape was derived from the natural curves of the surrounding topography; it represents an infinite curve in the landscape contoured from the site as it slopes to the southwest. The curves of the building and the curves of the land harmonize in a way that mutually supports the program of the science museum. Daegu National Science Museum is an architectural promenade arranged piece by piece to create lively spaces as well as a wonderful garden for the land and the city.
